DOT'S story -
ADVERSITY to
INSPIRATION
a lady who, in living her life to the full, touched the lives of many.
In 1998, as a 65 yo Dot was diagnosed with a brain tumour - a meningioma - in the middle of her head (pineal area).

1998 surgery & 2005 scan shows part still there
This is a benign tumour which doesn't spread so has a different outcome to malignant tumours.
She had three brain tumour surgeries and in the 10-11 years since gradually lost all living skills to the point of not being able to walk far; bathe / feed / toilet herself; speak or comprehend instructions.

head shaved July 1998 neurosurgery
She could not recognize anyone, didn't know what year it was or where she was and yet the more adventures she went on, the more she came to life.
Not only did she come to life but she radiated an aura which was felt by total strangers.

During these 2 years of adventures
(2008-2009), she was mostly
in a wheelchair ,
had no speech or communication
(other than her eyes) and
had no functioning life skills.
Everything had to be done for her in terms of her care .. and yet, that didn't stop her

A paragraph in amongst Dot's papers
that she would have written at least 15 years prior.
The Clock of Life is wound but once
and no-one can tell when the clock may stop.
It may be early, it may be late.
Enjoy NOW.
Live, love and work with a will
For no-one knows when the clock will be still.
The angel candle was used at her funeral.
From 15th October, 2009
Dot was cared for as a Palliative Care patient.
